Today, Apple Computer Inc. announced The New iPad. I can’t say I’m crazy about the name, as I think it will cause quite a bit of confusion. Where people will be mostly confused, though, would be buying/selling used. This isn’t the iPad, or iPad 2. It is The New iPad, and is said to be running iOS 5.1.
The New iPad features a Retina Display; 9.7″ diagonal, IPS LED technology, at 2048×1536 pixels. Do the math, and you’ll notice The New iPad’s Retina Display doesn’t quite reach the detail of the iPhone 4(s), but that is all a matter of perception. The farther you hold the device, the more detailed it becomes. Because this is a tablet, and not a phone, it will typically be held farther away.
The A5X processor is a dual-core chip, with a quad-core GPU. Apple is claiming their new processor is able to push the extra pixels with just as much fluidity as the iPad 2, while prolonging battery life. This processor is to be found in the 16, 32, and 64 GB versions of The New iPad.
