As we reported last month – an iOS 5.1 jailbreak solution is not yet available. iphone4sjailbreak.com keeps rolling out press releases on PRWeb claiming to jailbreak your iDevice for 20 bucks, and I hate to keep repeating myself, but quit paying for jailbreak apps!
The real developers at the iPhone Dev Team are still hard at work, with – you guessed it – the real jailbreak. And they don’t charge a dime.
The official release date isn’t set in stone just yet, but things are looking pretty good. One of the masterminds behind the jailbreak development, pod2g, announced on Twitter that the finished product should be out sometime in the next month or two.
@pod2g: ETA for 5.1 JB: no clue! We’re going to set pieces of the puzzle together this week. We could have issues… Could be 1 month maybe 2…
A measly $20 sounds pretty reasonable for that easy jailbreak app that is impossible to find anywhere else – but that’s the problem - it’s impossible to find anywhere else. It doesn’t exist yet. The guys behind the scenes do have it up and running, but it’s pretty safe to say that they’re not going to be leaking any early, unstable versions – and if they did – it still wouldn’t cost anything.
What’s more, iphone4sjailbreak.com was just purchased for $6 grand on Flippa very recently, which is pretty sketchy. I mean, they’re obviously a scam, but if you’re still thinking about handing them 20 bucks for a jailbreak solution that won’t work, at least take this into consideration. This group obviously hasn’t been established very long at all, which even further suggests that they’re up to no good.
The only reason I keep stressing this is that I can’t get very far into any jailbreak discussions on the Web without stumbling across a (rightfully) pissed off iDevice user that has shelled out the money for this bogus app. No one want’s to be ripped off – so like I said, don’t ever pay for jailbreak solutions.
