Next Generation of Xbox Finally in Manufacturing?

The next generation of Xbox gaming consoles has supposedly reached the early stages of manufacturing – putting Microsoft in third place, right after Nintendo with the Wii U and Sony with the PS4 Orbis.

Flextronics, developers of the 360, have already formed a test group aimed at marketing, hardware and software tests for an undisclosed Microsoft project – which is looking a lot like it’s the Xbox 720. Needless to say, development is still at its infant stages and a 2012 release date is highly unlikely.

While all the signs pointing to the next Xbox, you probably shouldn’t get your hopes just yet. Microsoft boldly stated that there will be no news or talk of a new Xbox at E3 next month, which could either mean that development is just at a really, really early stage – or they haven’t actually started yet and this Flextronics thing is for something else entirely.

For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360 – and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever – a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide.

Either way, we’re all ready for the new console.

Even if development has in fact started though, these are the super early stages – they definitely haven’t decided on any one design. Still, it’d be nice to hear some of the specs they’re shooting for.
