Android holds the majority, what else is new?

Q1 smartphone marketshare reports are in with Android leading the pack. That’s really not news, though.

iOS saw a pretty big gain in Q4 of ’11, nearly equal to Android. This first quarter of ’12 though, things took a turn. Android is back where they were in Q3 of ’11.

Blackberry continues its long fated, anticipated death, and still anyone using Windows Phone 7 is part of a smartphone minority. It’s a shame, really. Windows Phone 7 is quite an elegant OS that I hate to see get trampled (or pounced all over, if you will) by the big guns, but I suppose that’s just the way things go.

Here in the States of ‘Merica, we don’t use no Symbian. That fact is clearly reflected in the plot graph above, along with some other hardly-used mobile OS’s.

I wonder what caused Android to gain momentum again? I also wonder if it’s going to last through Q2? Leave your opinions in that little comment thing down below.
