Last month’s point release of Lion (10.7.3) seemed to be causing some major issues among some folks restoring their system from Time Machine. The worst of the bugs had to do with certain Macs being rendered useless due to widespread CUI errors, resulting in nearly every app crashing as well as displaying a graphic that says “??? CUI ???” in place of the system buttons.
Another annoying bug a number of Lion users were facing involved Time Machine being unable to restore any kind of backup, which was a huge problem for anyone who regularly backs their system up, especially if they needed to restore those backups at any time last month.
Both problems were resolved with a small Supplemental Update that was released earlier this month, but one has to wonder – what’s it going to be next? It seems as though people are finding new bugs with OS X Lion on a regular basis, making Apple’s newest OS seem more and more like a public beta every day.
Again, only a small (though unfortunate) handfull of Lion users were affected by either bug, but it’s still a little concerning.
